THE WHEEL'S FOUR CLUBS

Seated Dance briefly re-started but owing to the lockdown announced in January classes are currently suspended.
SCRABBLE, FILM CLUB and MOVEMENT TO MUSIC
At the moment (early December) we have no idea when we can start Scrabble, Film Club or Movement to Music but be assured that as soon as we know, we will let you know. We know many of you have really missed the clubs, as have we. We will do our best to get them up and running as soon as possible but yours, and our volunteers, safety and wellbeing is paramount and must come first. Thank you for your understanding.
21ST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
The Wheel of Care celebrates its 21st birthday next year. We were planning a celebratory tea party for all clients and volunteers this year to mark our 20th year, but this had to be postponed to Summer 2021. More details to follow.
WHEEL OF CARE AGM
Our 2020 AGM took place via Zoom on Thursday 29th October and was well 'attended'. Please see 'AGM 2020' in the right hand menu for all the reports given at the meeting.

COVID-19 & WHEEL OF CARE SERVICES
The purpose of this update is not to repeat Public Heath England information but rather how the PHE / Government contingencies and advice applies to the service West Horsley Wheel of Care provides, and also to respond to a report on the BBC about volunteer groups helping those self-isolating.
Are you happy to help?
With good practice there is no reason why the WoC should not continue to provide help including offering to go shopping for clients or collecting prescriptions and deliver goods to their front door.
Temporary opt out
We completely understand if you feel that the sensible option for you would be to opt out of volunteering for the time being. You can notify the WoC by phoning the DO on 01483 281703 (Mon – Fri 10am – 12noon) or emailing info@westhorsleywheelofcare.co.uk and we will update our files.
Self-isolating
As a WoC volunteer we need you to keep us informed of any notifiable / related health issues and if you are self-isolating now, or if your situation changes and you need to self-isolate. Again, please contact WoC (details above) and we will update our files.

MESSAGE FROM A CLIENT
It is always lovely to hear from our clients! We recently received the following message from a client whom we have been helping for the past year or so:
"Many, many thanks to West Horsley Wheel of Care for organising so efficiently my car lifts to the Scrabble sessions and Film Club. It has made such a difference to my life this year when I have been unable to drive and enabling me to meet people and start a new pastime. Also, thanks for the cups of tea and delicious cake. Everything much appreciated."
THE QUEEN'S AWARD FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICE
It was announced on 2nd June 2015 that the Wheel of Care had been honoured with The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK and the equivalent of an MBE for voluntary groups. Please click on the link immediately below The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service logo to the right for a copy of the press release regarding this prestigious award.
SNOW/ICE AND THE CLUBS
If there is snow/ice on the ground, it is highly likely that all Wheel of Care clubs will be cancelled. If you are unsure whether a club is going ahead, please ring the Duty Officer on 01483 281703 (Monday-Friday 10am-noon). We will also post an update on this page if any club is cancelled due to the weather.
